This is my fourth Active Sketch, a doodle in code. I made this to test out the controls for a one-button flying game.
I made this for a project with ~brontosaurus. The landscape of pillars is based on his Pixel Skylines 01 piece. The birds came about as I wondered what sort of creatures might live in such a landscape.
I used the Flixel engine to build this prototype. It's great for making pixelated games like this - I'd recommend it.
Click the window to start, then click the mouse button or tap the space bar to flap your wings. If you hold the button down, you will dive.
tap - flap wings hold - dive none - soar collide - perch
To reverse direction, perch on a pillar by flying into it. When you lift off again, you will be flying in the opposite direction.
Every ten seconds, a new swarmer appears. It's quite a sight when you have a hundred of them on the screen at a time.
You can reload the page to get a new environment to play in.

I like to give Critique. though you may find it offensive sometimes, it's for the better.

I believe that games will be as significant a new medium as the printed word ever was, and as powerful a force for change.
I am here to make that happen. Making life more fun

Very nice improvements from the 3rd installment.

No worries, no fears, no nightmares, no tears.
I reverted this one to the original, where you can't turn in midair.
Thanks for the feedback.

Make it into a game. It's really addicting. I love making air plane sounds when playing this. Brings out the inner kid in me XD

A cruel world waits beyond where you're sitting. But where you're sitting could view that whole world in one single click.
I just posted an alternate version of this where you can change direction in midair: [link]
I would appreciate it if you could try it out and let me know how it compares.
